Every Day with the Barfields

Everyday with the Barfields

We've just been celebrating and celebrating around our house. Such a fun time when everyone in your family has birthdays in February and March. I don't know about you, but it's only Wednesday, and it's already been a WEEK around here. I am worn out for some reason. So it's always fun to look back and see what these last seven days
have held for us here in the Barfield house.
Let's take a look...

Day 78- Konrad concentrated really hard on his coloring sheet for Nana. We celebrated Nana's birthday a day early, but this day was her actual birthday!
Happy Birthday, Nana!
As you can see…we have a lefty in our family! Something kind of new to me, but i've already lined up a penmanship teacher for him!

Day 79- Konrad ended his day with an ice cream sundae and the movie, Robin Hood.

Day 80- Konrad finally got his haircut from not Mrs. Joan but Joan.
I know the teachers at his play school were glad. They were probably about to make a dress code for hair after having Konrad come to school with his hair at an inappropriate length for two weeks straight.

Day 81- Uncle Nash finally gave Konrad his Christmas gift. We have been playing Peter Pan/Captain Hook ever since. I think I see a birthday them for Konrad in the making.

Day 82- We celebrated Uncle Garrett at the farm. Garrett's birthday was a while back, but this was the first weekend we could all get together! I love this picture! They love him!

Day 83- This is Mary Wesley dancing and playing in her bed at 11:27 pm. Can I just tell you she was up from 11- 3 am? You can only imagine my attitude the day after. It was rough. I have no idea what got into her. I hope we don't see another one of these nights for a long time!!!
I know…you are laughing and thinking…you just wait…there are many more.
NO THERE'S NOT!

Day 84- Olivia came and did school at our house, and Konrad was beyond excited to have her all to himself. He loves his Livi!

Once again, lots of celebrating and having fun! Who can complain? Not me! Even with sleepless nights there is always something to be thankful for and find celebration in. We have some fun, exciting, hopefully warm, big days ahead. Stay tuned to see what all the excitement is all about!
I hope you all have a great rest of the week!

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.

Sharing Some Recipes

Happy Monday, Everyone!
It's been a while since I shared some recipes,
 so I thought today would be the perfect day to do just that.
Let's jump right to it.

This first recipe was a hit at our house. I was a little worried Kyle wouldn't like this one, but he did. It's super easy and yummy.

Creamy Chicken Broccoli Pie Pockets

You can find the recipe here
Now the recipe calls for cooked and shredded chicken. Remember all you have to do is throw some boneless chicken in the crockpot with some salt, pepper, and chicken stock before you leave for work and….it's done when you get home. (cook on low) These pie pockets are delicious. You could really add more veggies too if you wanted!

We love to eat Mexican food. The days of eating at the Mexican restaurant once a week are over for us, so I am constantly looking for new Mexican recipes. This one is REALLY delicious! It leaves a lot of room for you to add your own little touches too.

Stuffed Peppers

You can find the recipe here
I served these with some spanish rice and a guacamole salad.
I hope you enjoy these as much as we did.

And last but not least is a new favorite dessert around here.
I have made these at least five times in the past month. Now we have not eaten all five pans, but we would have if we needed to. You have to try these.

Snickerdoodle Blondies

You can find the recipe here
Make sure to serve them warm.
Some Vanilla or Butter Pecan ice cream go quite well with them too!!!

I hope you will try these recipes. They are super easy and delicious!
Hope you all have a great week!
Happy Monday!

Every Day with the Barfields

We've had a fun and busy week.
 I am so excited to see the weekend.
Lots celebrating this week!

Day 70- Just a reminder that we should always take refuge in Him. His way is Perfect!

Day 71- I picked up one tired little boy from school! He plays so hard and acts like a "ham", but even "hams" have to rest.

Day 72- Mary Wesley in her colorful fun dress from Sugarplum Tree.
She makes me smile all the time!

Day 73- Uncle Wes is home! He had a picnic with us, and of course we got his favorite…Nuway!

Day 74- More fun with Uncle Wes!

Day 75- Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Day 76- I found these fun Oh Joy party hats and noisemakers at Target. I used them to set the table for Mrs. Susan's birthday. To see more about how we celebrated, click here

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend filled with lots of JOY!
Enjoy this wonderful weather!
Spring has sprung!

Let the sea roar and all that it contains, the world and all those who dwell in it.
Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy;
Psalm 98:7-8

Happy Birthday, Nana!

Happy Birthday to the best Nana in the world!

Vintage tablecloths are her favorite, so I set my table around the tablecloth.
(She actually gave me this tablecloth.)

Nana's place at the table!

Happy Birthday to you…
(Guess who blew out the candle….)

Nana, Grandaddy, Mary Wesley, and Konrad!

So sweet!
Mary Wesley thought Konrad blowing the horn was just hilarious!

Never a dull moment at a party with Konrad!

Ham!

There are so many things I could say about Nana! I am so blessed to have her as a part of my life. When I think about all the things I could say about her, these verses come to mind…

An excellent wife who can find?
She is far more precious than jewels.
The heart of her husband trusts her,
and he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good, and not harm,
all the days of her life.
She opens her hand to the poor
and reaches out her hands to the needy.
Strength and dignity are her clothing,
and she laughs at the time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
She looks well to the ways of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her;
"Many women have done excellently,
but you surpass the all."
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Give her the fruit of her hands
and let her works praise her in the gates.
Proverbs 31: 10-31

Happy Birthday, Nana!
We love you!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

How Lucky  BLESSED I am…
I'll be honest. I don't believe in luck. I am very BLESSED!
God has blessed me more than I could ever imagine!
This is just how blessed Kyle and I are…

Mary Wesley (8 months) Konrad (2.5 years old)

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!

Then Jesus told them, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. "

Everyday with the Barfields

Welcome!
It seems that all the littles are growing up so fast these days! Mary Wesley has started crawling, saying "dog" and "dada", eating table food, and trying to pull up on anything she can get a grip on. Konrad is "having full conversations" (as Nash says), potty trained, and sleeping in a big boy bed. (Now if I can just get rid of the paci!) They grow SO fast. It's exciting though.

Day 64- Just pretend there is a really cute picture of Konrad and Mary Wesley reading to each other here. I don't know what happened to the photo! :(
You can try to look at it here

Day 65- Konrad had pajama day at school on this day. He thought it was crazy that he got to wear his pi's to school. At first I really didn't think he was going to do it. He did though!

Day 66- Kyle and I had a date night planned for Friday night. Lindsey and Jordy ended up having one too, so we just decided to go together at the last minute. We ate at Bucca di Beppo…let me just quote Kyle…"It was like we were in the twilight zone." I'll leave it at that. We were not impressed. We ended our night with going to the Final Four game to watch the Hornets. Sadly they lost, but it was fun to be there.

Day 67- We met friends at Lanes, ate lunch, and played hard. It was so fun. I don't think Lindsey, Molly, and I finished a conversation at all, but that's the season of life we are in right now. It was fun!!

Day 68- We ate lunch at Grans. Then Konrad got some special time with Gran! Priceless memories being made!

Day 69- Just the small things that make cleaning the dishes fun!
Happy eight months, Mary Wesley!

Day 70- Mary Wesley went on her first of many rides with Benjamin and Julia in the jeep! AND..
Happy Birthday, Uncle Garrett!!

Konrad's face is hysterical in this picture. Getting him to take a picture these days is torture for him.

I want to leave you with this verse.

As for God, his way is perfect;
the word of the Lord is flawless.
He is a shield for all who take refuge in him…
It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.
2 Samuel 22:31-33

Some Sweetness for your Monday

Saturday Fun

This past Saturday I met two of my friends and their children at Lanes. Lanes is close to our house. I need to take advantage of this more often. We ate lunch outside then took the kids to play on the playground. They also have a pond with ducks back behind the play area. You can guess where Konrad wanted to stay the whole time. Thankfully we didn't take the them to the pond till before we left, or Konrad would have never wanted to swing, slide, sit on the tractors, etc. He kept saying he wanted to "go shoot those ducks." Thankfully no one really heard him.
Lord, help me when he starts hunting. We'll never see him.
It was so fun to watch the kids play together. They are growing so fast before our very eyes. One of the funnest things about having children is getting to watch them play with your best friend's children.
We're family. We don't see them all the time, but when we do it's like we've never been apart.
Here's a peak at all the fun we had.

Everyone had to ride the tractors of course.

Thankfully, Sophie is responsible and will be driving all the kids around first. I'm already praying for Konrad and Izzie when they start driving.

Little man hung in there with all the big kids too!
Cannot get any cuter than this!!!

They are growing way too fast!
Best Buds!

Dallas loved the ducks too!

Everyone did a little swinging before we left!

Mary Wesley is trying to eat McKinley's foot!

It's pictures like these next two that make me stop and thank God for the group of friends He has placed in my life. I am so thankful to have a community of friends that choose to raise their children to love Jesus and always want to know more about Him! We are blessed!

Nothing like a nice cold popsicle after a long playdate!

I hope you all have a great week! I want to end with some of Isaiah 43. Our choir sang a special this past Sunday that brought tears to my eyes! Those of us who are believers have been given so many promises that will never be broken. God has called us. He has chosen us. We need to remember He is ALWAYS with us. In the good and the bad He is right there with us. We are His and we are precious in His sight! Believe that today and every day.
 If you aren't a believer there is so much hope for you. God is with you too. Do you hear Him calling your name? If so, turn to Him, because He wants you!

But now, this is that the Lord says,
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name;
you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the Lord, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, you Savior;
I give Egypt for your ransom,
Cush and Seba in your stead.
Since you are precious and honored in my sight,
and because I love you,
I will give men in exchange for you,
and people in exchange for your life.
Isaiah 43: 1-4
